Hannah went to the dentist for the first time in October 2011. We had purchased a book about going to the dentist and read it a few times. We talked about what they would do there. Hannah did not seem scared at all.
I was pleasantly surprised when it was her turn and she hopped right up into the chair. She was able to have a few xrays taken of her mouth.
And didn't mind the actual cleaning that really didn't take long at all. They counted her teeth, did a simple cleaning and allowed her to use the spit sucker (though they had a better name for it than that). Hannah was impressed and enjoyed the dentist.

Verdict- no cavities. . . no problems in her mouth, and she goes back in 6 months for another cleaning!
