Reflections. . .

A dear friend of mine while looking at a picture of Hannah nearly a year ago, said to me that she wished Hannah was still that small. I thought for a moment about that and agreed and disagreed. As I see it she was so adorable at that age, I loved her tons, she was just my baby still, loved to cuddle, was just really getting the hang of how to run and explore. However, now I have this independent, talkative, opinionated young lady growing up beside me. One that wants to help with the every day moments like opening the door, putting the keys away, drinking from a cup, picking out shoes and clothes, washing herself in the tub, brushing her teeth beside mommy and daddy, carrying the purse around. . .

I really am blessed that there hasn't been a moment where my heart wasn't in it. Yeah I've had my grumpy and less than patient days with Hannah. But my heart has been in it no matter what. She's my darling girl and I love her. I've thought this all along that I've loved the stage we are in the most. This doesn't fail me now either. My big girl that wants to ride bikes, hang with the big kids on the play ground, run around saying "come on" to all the kids there. My girl that asks me for hugs and kisses now. My girl that when I drop her off says to me "See ya" most mornings, and some mornings will give me a kiss and say "I lub you too". My girl that clearly can tell me no when she doesn't like something, or can request things "Hannah cup?" "Cheese", my girl that is obsessed with cars and trucks that she has started her own hot wheel collection.

I am blessed to have this 2 year old. . . 2 years 4 months to be exact (next weekend that is). She brightens up every day. How do you not just brim with love and joy to see her smiling face when I wake her up with a rendition of a camp song "Good morning, Good morning, Good morning, it's time to rise and shine. . . "

Yeah I loved the baby phase, but I think I love the toddler phase even more. Hannah's not my baby any more- and I have to remind myself of that often, she's my big girl. She's my little lady (well sort of). I think I love every day that I get to have her in my life. It's a love that I can't quantify or explain, she's my little girl and I just plain love her.

AMEN -- and you never stop loving your little girls, even when they grow up and become mommies. And believe it or not being a Grammy is even more wonderful than you would expect!!!

I love her too even though she isnt mine... I lover her like she is! Gotta love the random HUGE squeezes she gives and the smooches she steals from you when you dont expect it. or the I'm going to plop in your lap whether you are ready or not and you're going to cuddle till I decide I wanna play.

Her vocabulary has always shocked me! "army national guard..." What 2 year old says that? ONLY YOURS... but I taught her so I guess I am guilty. But I love that she learns and says words so clear! even from the beginning of me watching her, she communicated really well. You're one lucky gal to have such a smart silly and beautiful little lady!
