My mom got me thinking. She made a comment in a message sent to me about 5 minutes ago, about how I should be proud of my darling girl. I wonder- do others not think I am proud of her? She is amazing. Daily I see something that I think- have I seen her do that before, or did she just figure that out.
Tonight for example, she's sitting on the bathroom counter (big enough for her bum!), and I'm blow drying her hair- because she won't let us towel dry it, or she will but it comes with screams. Blow drying is more pleasant with smiles and laughter. I usually give her a comb, some hair things and maybe a toothbrush to play with. Tonight she leans over turns on the water wets her toothbrush and then turns off the faucet. HELLO!! Where did she learn that I'm curious about.
Every day she watches what the adults around her do, and she mimics and makes it her own. We have created routines that she actually follows, just follow her into either our house or Stefanie's and watch how she takes her shoes and socks off and puts them into the bucket. Bet you wondered why her shoe bucket is in the hallway, it's because that's her routine at day care, so we mimic it to make life easier! And she will actually pick up her shoes if she has a place to put them away at.
Every morning the waking her up, getting her dressed, the giving of the milk, and the putting on of the shoes, she knows that leads to walking out the door to leave for day care. And she lets me know if I'm not doing it right or quick enough. Every day she amazes me with her words, her expressions of emotion, her play, her skills, her being her. She is my mini me (if you knew me younger with tantrums you would agree!).
So am I proud of her? DAILY! I can't count the number of times I say I love you to her, or the amount of times I kiss and hug her. I can't tell you how it feels DAILY to leave her at day care because I truly miss her every day- though I've been working full time since she was 8 weeks old.
I remain in love with my daughter, flaws and all.
Daily when I tell her "I love you" and I hear back from her "Lub you"- it makes everything worth every moment.
I am proud that she can say Please and thank you.
I am proud too of myself that I am raising a daughter to be proud of. A conversation that would take way to long to dive into, but simply I'm proud of myself and Jason for how we are choosing to raise her, and the decisions that we have made and kept to, no matter what others have said to us.
I'm proud of the family that the 3 of us have created.
I'm proud that our daughter is able to express emotions- example of going to the grocery store and family behind us in the check out aisle had a small baby who was crying. Hannah said very sadly "baby", then started to whimper- showing compassion/concern/sadness whatever you wish to call it about the baby behind us in line. Something I had never witnessed before from her. It broke my heart to see her hurt like that- but I also felt so genuinely happy that my daughter has the ability to feel those and I hope she never looses that ability.
So never doubt my love or pride I have in my family. I may not express it to the world often, but you can rest assured that I tell my husband and my daughter how much I love them daily (sometimes hourly if needed!). I got to bed at the end of the day knowing that I have done everything in my power to show my daughter how I care about her, but I know she's safe, loved, and above all the joy of our lives.
I don't believe in boasting that I believe my girl is the prettiest, smartest child around. But I do believe in showing her as much love as possibly can, but also allowing her experiences that will strengthen her as she grows into her own.
Okay off my rant- mostly just needed to say it once so others know how I feel about darling Bug. She's the joy of my life and good or bad I wouldn't change it for the world.

I almost cried when I read this. I am so proud of my niece to. I can't wait to see her next week. She is such a wonderful girl.
Well Ok then - we know you are proud. I'm glad you get to memoralize her moments like this. I wish we had blog's and digitals when you girls were growing up. There are lots of great memories but not enough pictures!
I teared up a bit...This is exactly how i have felt about Amber since the day she was born and still am so proud of her..and....i've been known to boast. :-) It is so amazing to watch these little people mimic the adults. it's how they learn and you can always tell if they are being brought up by people who care, who love them and want them to be awesome adults....children live what the learn. you and Jason are doing an awesome job, don't ever doubt that people know how proud you are of that little punkin....
