NERVES

  • Many of you know that I work as a drug and alcohol counselor, addictions counselor, outpatient counselor... call me what you will- I do counseling for a company that works with clients that have problems related to drugs and alcohol, in an outpatient setting. In Oregon there is a certification that is recommended and in my job required to be gained w/in 2 years of employment. 6/25/09 is my 2 year mark (this is officially now my 2nd longest job... 1st was Morrison, I was there 1 month shy of 3 years).
  • Tomorrow I will be taking the Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor test (otherwise known as the CADC). There are 3 levels for this test, I'm going for my I, and II. II is not necessary, but it is recommended for supervisors in our company to have it, I am going to go ahead and seek it, for my own personal reasons (perhaps I'll later become a supervisor, not sure yet).
  • I am nervious for this test. I haven't had to take any tests since before I completed my graduate degree. The last year of grad school was all practicum, so not even then did I have to take a test. I haven't had to study for years... trying to study to prepare for tomorrow has been so hard, with a little one at home and a hubby that would like my attention when I get home, I've been struggling to get the time that I need in order to feel prepared. So today I'm a bundle of nerves knowing that regardless tomorrow I will go in take the test and see from there what will happen. If I pass tomorrow, then I'm issued my CADC I, then I'm invited to do a case presentation and do an interview process in order to gain my CADC II.
  • But once this is taken care of it- it's all easy peasy from there. The rest of the week will be great. We have a camping trip planned for this weekend w/ my parents. First one for us this season. First one we will have with our walking 14 month old daughter! This will be an interesting weekend and hopefully a fun one.
Take care all...
