Ode to Recliner. . .

Dear Brown recliner-
You have been in our family since I was a child. We believe it's now close to 30 years that you have been a permanent fixture in our families lives. You started out as my fathers chair, his place of solace after a long hard day or night of work. You provided him comfort for many naps and many family memories I'm sure. Then you were passed along to me.

You have provided me and my family of now 4 plenty of comfort. The last year or two you have begun to creek when we rock in you and you have begun to show off your age with a few worn places in the fabric. You have even endured some child abuse from our 3 year old that colored on you with an orange marker or crayon (we can't tell which).

As I rocked in you this morning while I was feeding our daughter I recall how the rule in our house is "Thee that has the baby, gets the rocking chair!". We fight over who gets to sit in you. You are the coveted place to sit in our house. We have slept all night in you when we had a fussy Hannah as an infant. We have shared many family memories with you as our support.

I worry that you, my favorite chair, is going to be leaving us soon. Your fabric is becoming dangerously thin at a few places. The creeking is beginning to get louder and louder. But until you fall completely apart we will call you our favorite place to sit.

I love my recliner! We inherited it when my parents redid their living room and my dad got a bigger, badder, plusher recliner. . . yet our brown recliner has managed to be a great recliner for 2 families and provide a lifetime of service to our families!

THANK YOU Recliner for being a part of my life- without you the feedings, burpings, snugglings would all be a bit less comfortable.
