Could we be. . .

Binky free?

A few days ago, Hannah bit 2 of her binkies nearly in half. It was that night that I decided that it would be time to get rid of the binky habit. We could find a baby doll, a blanket, even a thumb to self soothe. I decided that from that day til Friday we would give her binky only for sleeping times.

I wanted to wait til Friday so that I could be with her Friday through Monday morning to enforce the no binky policy. I immediately became strick about the bedtime routine, which we had become very lax on. So back to giving daddy kisses, going to the bedroom, turn on the music, get a book, blankey and baby and sit in the chair. Read 1 book, snuggle with baby and blanket, mommy would sing 2 songs (the ones I've sung her since birth), then put her into her crib. Last night she had to cry for about 30 minutes, I went back in there, wrapped her up in the blanket, sang said songs 1 more time and she was out. BINKY FREE!

Nap time today, daddy was nervous, so I got to do nap time. Followed same bedtime routine. Baby sang along for the first song, and then by the end of the second song was asleep in my arms wrapped in her blanket and BINKY FREE!

There has been no binky in her mouth for 24 hours. I am feeling very good about this. Though I know that we could reach difficult times, for now I'm just so proud of Hannah for giving up her Binky very easily. I am hoping to that with my new job, new hours (that are the same everyday!), Hannah is getting into even more of a routine, and knows what to expect. By following a more strict bedtime routine, there is a hope in my mind that she will begin to know what to expect and will go to bed very easily.

A mommy can hope and wish right?
